Michelle A. Youngers, President and CEO,
brings over 20 years diverse experience in the development and implementation
of operational and financing strategies for early stage, high growth
companies across multiple industries. From 1994-1998 she served
as CFO and general business manager at Alanex Corporation, a San
Diego based drug discovery company where she played a significant
role in building the company from start-up through its acquisition
by Agouron Pharmaceuticals in 1997. Ms. Youngers served as Acting
Chief Financial Officer of ScienceMedia from 1999-2001 and joined
the company as President in 2001. From 1989-1994 Ms. Youngers was
Principal of Youngers & Company, an accounting and consulting
practice focused on services to privately held companies in high
growth rate industries.
Ms. Youngers currently serves on the Executive Board of the Healthcare Communications & Marketing Association and on the Deans Advisory Committee for UCSD's Division of Physical Sciences. She received her BBA in Accounting from the University of San Diego.
Mark L. Rabe, M.D., Medical Director, brings a unique blend of solid scientific training, medical practice experience and business development abilities to ScienceMedia. Prior to joining ScienceMedia, Mark was in private medical practice for 20 years specializing in occupational and wellness medicine. A cornerstone of Mark’s practice philosophy has always been to promote optimum health through education. In addition, he founded and entrepreneurially developed two successful companies specializing in providing mobile medical examination services to the insurance industry.
Dr. Rabe earned his M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, and completed his training in Internal Medicine. He received a Summa Cum Laude B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, where he conducted award-winning research in leukemia drug synthesis.
Margaret Harmon, Ph.D., Program Director,
brings her collective experience in science research, teaching and
instructional design as well as industry practice to ScienceMedia
program development. In addition to her experience as the Quality
Control Lab supervisor for Perdue Foods and as a Scientist with Sandoz Agro,
she has conducted post-doctoral research in the department of Pharmacology
at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, the Green Center for Reproductive
Biology Sciences, and at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Margaret has
extensive teaching experience in General Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology,
Marine Biology and various graduate level courses in Physiology and Endocrinology.
Her success as a teacher was recognized by the UCLA Board of Regents in the
form of a Distinguished Teaching Award.
Dr. Harmon received her BA in Agricultural Sciences from Ohio State
University with special emphasis on Physiology, and a Ph.D. in Biology
with an emphasis on Molecular Endocrinology from the University
of California at Los Angeles.
Rob Ransom, Ph.D., eLearning Development Director,
has more than 20 years experience in developing and managing the development of eLearning products in K12, adult learning and pharmaceutical industry sectors. Rob taught biology and genetics at the UK’s Open University for 11 years before founding the educational publishing company REMedia in 1993. He was one of the first educators to use computer-based full motion video, and was a member of Apple Computer’s University Consortium Council for many years. Before joining ScienceMedia Rob was a Senior Instructional Designer for Cardinal Health, one of the largest health services companies in the world.
Rob received his B.S in Biological Sciences from the University of Aston, UK, and a PhD in Computer Applications to Developmental Processes from the Institute of Animal Genetics, University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Chauncey Smith, Chief Sales and Marketing Director,
brings more than 20 years of healthcare marketing and sales experience to his role at ScienceMedia. His extensive product management experience includes medical device, pharmaceutical and non- prescription products. From 1997 to 2006, Chauncey was at GlaxoSmithKline, where as a Senior Brand Manager, he developed and implemented key opinion leader strategies, sales training programs and innovative medical education initiatives. In 2005 he became commercial team leader for the US approval of Cutivate (fluticasone) Lotion, a prescription topical steroid. His healthcare selling experience began with disposable, hospital based products for Becton Dickinson VACUTAINER™ Systems throughout central and southern Ohio.
Prior to joining ScienceMedia, Chauncey was at Medsn\Indegene and was instrumental in establishing several new key accounts while serving as an area vice president there.
Mr. Smith’s professional achievements include receiving the GSK Pyramid Award for Medical Marketing Excellence, and being named Medical Marketer of the Year in 2002 by the Medical Marketing Association (now the HCMA). He earned his BS in Marketing from the Ohio State University.
