- Although currently considered incurable, a number of treatment options exist that may prolong survival
- The type of treatment used is dependent upon the location of the metastatic disease, and may include:
- Surgery
- Radiation
- Chemotherapy
- Targeted therapy
- Hormonal therapy
- Combination
- Treatment is influenced by a number of factors, including:
- Prior therapies
- Patient performance status
- Tumor phenotype
- Pre- or post-menopausal status
- Therapeutic resistance
- Availability of clinical trials
